The book with your favorite quote

I was tempted to choose The Hobbit once again this week, because it has the best quotes. I can’t say I have an absolute favorite among all those I love and like to reread sometimes on Goodreads, but I must say that Tolkien is my favorite author to quote!

For today’s post I chose the song “The Road Goes Ever On”, there are three versions of it, one is in The Hobbit as well, but the one I chose is the second version and can be found in The Fellowship of the Ring, Book I, Chapter 1 and it’s sung by Bilbo when he leaves the Shire forever.

“The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say”

― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
