5 Least Favorite Book in My Favorite Series

Top 5 Wednesday is a weekly book meme officiated in November 2013 and created by Lainey of Gingerreadslainey

When I saw this topic I immediately started thinking about my favorite series and, beside Harry Potter, nothing came to my mind. That’s probably because I’ve read tons of fantasy series during highschool, when social media/blogs/goodreads didn’t exist yet, and I never recorded them, so I forgot them all! I’ve dig deeper in my mind and something came up…

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by JK Rowling (Harry Potter #3)

While many people say this is actually their favorite of the entire series, this is not for me. While I love every single Harry Potter book, that’s my least favorite one probably because it was the first one I started reading and then abandoning (gasp!). My mom heard about JK Rowling’s existance at the news and went to look for the Harry Potter books, but she only found the third one and thought I’d like it even if it wasn’t the beginning of the story. After reading the Philosopher’s Stone, I was completely hooked!

Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer (Twilight #4)

First of all I didn’t like that the second part of the book was written from Jacob’s perspective, it made me dislike the character even more. Also, the whole baby Renesmee thing was too creepy for me, I’m not a super maternal person and I prefer not reading about pregnancy and other stuff. Finally, I had the overall feeling that Meyer didn’t know what to invent anymore to maintain a “cool” status of the saga, especially after the releasing of the movies.

Shopaholic and Baby by Sophie Kinsella (Shopaholic #5)

Again, I don’t like when toddlers are involved, because I can’t relate with the main character, not being a mother myself. I still enjoyed the book, but it wasn’t like the others to me.

The Doomsday Key by James Rollins (Sigma Force #6)

I loved the first books of the Sigma Force series, I reread three times the first one actually, a record for me! But I noticed that Rollins was taking the apocalyptic path too many times during the last books. This is actually the last one of the series that I’ve read, then I decided to take a break.

The Silmarillion by JRR Tolkien

Don’t get me wrong, I love The Silmarillion and it isn’t actually part of a series! But I didn’t know what to choose as fifth book, so I went for this one. It’s basically the genesis of Middle-earth, it talks about the events before The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings and it’s mostly about Elves. I’m currently rereading it and you can find my schedule here.
